Our client is a start-up company backed by a well known global company with global operations that literally reaches every corner of the world. Due to a key initiative to improve their business, our client is seeking a high caliber lawyer to join this dynamic and growing company. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer to be responsible for providing legal and regulatory advice on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters especially IT within the group.
Your new role
- Reporting to the CEO of the Group, you will be tasked to advise on legal aspects of the Group’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings.
- Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings.
- Research local laws and regulations in foreign jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
- Provide advice on platform compliance, cross border logistics, import/export, and payment acceptance.
- Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements.
- Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct training to business units.
What you'll need to succeed
- Legal license to practice outside of China (for example US, or England and Wales).
- For legal counsel, 8+ years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or corporation. In-house experience is welcome, but not mandatory.
- Experience with e-commerce, and/or cross-border trade transactions (such as import/export, logistics, payments, etc) preferred.
- Strong IT contracts experience
- English is a must and Chinese is a nice to have
- Highly-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure in a start-up environment.
- Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business.
- Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in legal training.
- High integrity and desire to collaborate with others.
